What a great motel. Very welcome sight for two weary motorcyclists at the end of an eventful day. Lovely hospitality and assistance provided along with a warm welcome. The unit was very tidy, beds were comfortable. I'd really like to come back and visit again for a few days with my children. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

Do not pass this motel by. Wished we had stayed more than one night. Great value, lovely helpful owner who went the extra mile. Unit fresh, clean and very well equipped. Thank you Gaynor.

Well situated for exploring the Catlin area. Great walks, scenery, birding and empty beaches. Owaka has a good choice supermarket, 3 good places to eat, a top range museum and fuel. The Lodge has excellent facilities and Gaynor could not be more helpful in advice and helpfulness. We stayed 3 nights and it was not enough to get the most out of this lovely region. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

We stayed for two nights to attend a wedding early in February 2014. Gaynor, thankyou for your excellent hospitality. The freshly baked muffins were very much appreciated as were the flowers in our pleasant clean unit. We highly recommend your motel.

Nov 18th 2012 We arrived having had a fabulous day exploring the catlins but were very cold and tired. Gaynor noticed, fetched another heater alongside with warm muffins - so welcoming. Our room was spotless, had everything we needed. She left us a beautiful breakfast with a fabulous homemade muesli - also sent me the recipe. Owaka Lodge has a high standard and Gaynor a wonderful host. Thank you.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Owaka Lodge Motel, and wish it had been for longer. We will certainly be returning again in the future. Thank you Gaynor for everything that you did to ensure we had the best time possible. See you soon!

Fastastic B&B/motel! What a truly wonderful find on our holiday. Wonderful hosts, breakfast superb, all fresh and home cooked. Rooms beautiful and clean. Recommend 100% if you're in this neck of the woods. A real gem of a find.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Owaka Lodge motel in February and we wish we could have stayed longer. The motel unit was just what we wanted, it was comfortable with lovely homely touches like the fresh roses and muffins and the kitchen area had everything that we needed in it. Gaynor was so welcoming and really made us feel at home. We had a fantastic day exploring the Catlins, the highlights for us being Curio Bay and the waterfalls. Unfortunately the tide times meant we couldn't see Cathedral Caves so maybe we'll just have to come back one day! The restaurant across the road is great and I had one of my favourite meals of the holiday there, venison in blueberry and red wine sauce – delicious! We would recommend Owaka Lodge to anyone who wanted to spend some time exploring the Catlins.

To dear Gaynor, We had the most lovely time staying with you. It was only brief (2 days), however it feels like we've just made another friend! Our room was plenty big enough for two people with everything we needed/wanted (stove, microwave, iron, heating, ensuite, kitchenette, alarm clock, tourist info, muffins (mmm), sofa, hanging space, washing machine facilities). It was very comfortable, particularly since we'd just completed a 3 day hike! We would like to sincerely thank you for your hospitality. You went out of your way to make us feel welcome, and blew us away by doing my hair for the wedding we attended!! All the very best to you, your family and Tai.
